My Latest Cake

So for my latest cake, Lauren and Jersey asked me if I wanted to make their sister-in-law Janae's birthday cake. It is her 24th birthday and she loves the TV show "24" so I made several little cakes in the shape of the numbers 24. My goal was to make them look just like the numbers on a digital clock, like the TV show's logo. It turned out pretty well. I got a nice message from Janae telling me that it was her favorite cake ever and that she thought it was too cool to eat. That message totally made my day!!!! Responses like that is one of the main reasons I love to make and decorate cakes!

My New Hobby

I never really thought of myself as artistic in any way other than in dance. Recently, however, I have discovered other talents. It's very undeveloped, but I think someday it could be really good. It all started when my mom gave me cake decorating books and tools for Christmas. I had expressed interest in borrowing my mom's decorating tips to decorate cookies. One day I was online and for some reason I looked up a recipe for fondant. It looked easy, so I decided to try it. It actually worked pretty well, so I made Andy a Valentine's Day cake. After the response I got from that, I decided to practice more. Now I think I am officially in charge of all cakes at family functions. For Dane's birthday I did a Mickey Mouse cake, and for Trent's birthday I did a basketball. I am hoping that if I practice enough, maybe someday I can make some money out of this and also try making wedding cakes.

Snow, snow, go away

Can you believe that it has snowed for almost 2 full days straight? I have never been so tired of snow. I put my life into my hands every time I have to drive somewhere. It is scary driving around a bunch of people who are from places where it does not snow like this. I think everyone needs to learn how to drive in snow before they get their license...But that's just me.

Well, we are two days into school and I already want to be done...The bright side of January though is that Lindsey is finally coming home from Taiwan! It feels like she's been gone forever. I finally got Andy back, and Lindsey left like 3 weeks later. But it's ok because she is coming home in 2 weeks! It will be nice to have my best friend back. If only I could have back some of my other close friends who are way too far away. It's hard to have such good friends live so far away.

Well, sadly, with a new semester means homework. I better go get some stuff done. Later!

We're not sure why we decided to start blogging....

Well, like many of our friends, we have decided to create a blog. Who knows if we will actually keep it updated or not, but oh well. Neither of us has a journal going, so we figure this counts.... I'm 100% sure that Andy will never add to this, so every story will be from my perspective...hahaha Hopefully we're not too boring.
We are both sad to see the holidays end. It has been so nice not having to worry about school, and get to sleep in. Andy and I have actually gotten to see each other too. It has been AWESOME!! It was also nice to see our families quite a bit. To be honest, all I wanted to do was see my nieces and nephews. The newest additions to our family, Lily and Holly, have been so much fun. I have to say, being an aunt is the best! Now, Andy and I are just enjoying our last few days before school starts. We are enjoying every moment together, because we know that once school starts, we won't see each other nearly as much.

Well it's pretty late now. Who knew I could babble on so much about nothing. :)
Until next time, this is Aynsley signing out!
